The TTA procedure should not be performed on dogs with a steep tibial plateau since this would increase the immobility. Compared to TPLO however, TTA is significantly less invasive and is widely acknowledged to give the dog a quicker recovery for the first four months.

The TTA procedure involves disecting the front of the tibia bone and moving the cut portion forward. This makes the patellar ligament more parallel to the femur significantly reducing the abnormal sliding in the knee joint.

A highly-specialized screw(Bone Screws), plate(Plates), and spacer(Cages) are used to perform this procedure.
