Your Rating

Enucleation scissors are surgical instruments designed for removing the eyeball (globe), especially when addressing trauma, tumor, or disease. Their stout, robust blades allow precise severing of the optic nerve and ocular muscles with minimum damage.

Curved blades provide enhanced access and visibility behind the globe and around the orbital apex. The curvature helps surgeons safely navigate around anatomical structures while cutting the optic nerve or surrounding tissue.

Compared to delicate iris or tenotomy scissors, enucleation scissors are larger, sturdier, and built for heavy-duty dissection. They feature thicker blades and blunt rounded tips to handle dense tissue and to avoid damaging surrounding orbital structures.

Thoroughly clean them immediately after surgery with warm, neutral-pH detergent, rinse with distilled water, then dry fully and lubricate hinged joints before sterilizing. Use steam autoclaving at recommended temperature (e.g. 121-135 °C), or validated chemical/low-temperature methods following manufacturer guidelines.
