The main difference between Lister and Hercules-style shears lies in their size and strength; Lister scissors are smaller with angled blades for precise bandage cutting, whereas Hercules shears are larger, heavier, and designed for cutting heavier materials such as plaster casts or thick dressings.

Use bandage shears to cut soft materials like dressings, gauze, and medical tapes without injuring the patient’s skin. Use plaster shears for cutting rigid materials such as plaster casts and fiberglass because their heavy-duty blades provide strong cutting leverage.
